Bass Guitar Lessons With Jerry Baiden
Bass is the foundation of the music. Bass provides groove, harmony, and direction. My bass lessons focus on helping students build proper technique within a musical, reliable foundation that will help students become musicians. You’ll learn how bass lines function inside songs and how to adapt to different styles and settings.
While bass is not my first instrument, I do understand the role of a bass player. I approach bass instruction from the perspective of the entire band, how the bass connects with the drums, supports harmony, and drives the feel of the music.
Building Technique, Time, and Musical Awareness
My lessons emphasize proper technique, solid time, and a clear mental approach to playing. We work on developing consistency, control, and confidence so you can play with intention rather than uncertainty.
Instruction is grounded in real musical situations, not just isolated exercises. You’ll learn how bass lines function inside songs and how to adapt your playing to different styles and settings.

The Role of the Bass Player
Bass players have the most responsibility in a band. They “can’t make mistakes.” Bass players are typically “in the song” the entire time. As a guitarist, I can take “breaks” in a song/performance, drink some beer, and tune my guitar. Bass players cannot do that, they take care of the harmony, time, direction, and groove.
